  1. Antarctica! Information About Antarctica! By: Tyler Hallman, Trisha Workman, and Shelby Hamilton

  2. Climate! As you all know, it is always very cold in Antarctica. The average temperature in Antarctica is 1.2 degrees Farienhight. The coldest it ever was in Antarctica was –128 degrees Celsius. The Harsh winds made the coldness even worse.

  3. Animals! One animal that lives in Antarctica is a seal. Seals eat fish and penguins. Some other animals that live in Antarctica are polar bears, killer whales, cape pigeon, and blue whales.

  4. Plant Life! • In Antarctica moss is • most common. There are only two flowering plants in Antarctica. Grass in Antarctica is dense on sunny coasts. In Antarctica there is only one type of herbs.

  5. Natural Resources! Antarctica also has some natural resources. One of them is fishing. some Some other natural resources are coal, tin, oil, copper, iron ore, and natural gas.

  6. Physical Features! Antarctica has many physical features, like the Transantarctic Mountains. These mountains cross the entire continent. The Transantarctic Mts., are the largest of ice free, rocky areas known as the “dry valleys.” some of the peaks rise more than 14,000 feet off of the ground. The highest mountain in Antarctica is Vinson Massif which is 16,067 feet high.

  7. The Lutzow – Holm Bay, Porpoise Bay, and Prydz Bay are in Antarctica. The Riiser-Larson Bay is also in Antarctica. The Hollick Kenyon Plateau is also in Antarctica. Cape Darnley & Cape Norvegia are there too. Antarctica has Many ice shelfs too. Some of them are the Ronne Ice Shelf, the Ross Ice Shelf, the Lason Ice Shelf, the Fimbul Ice Shelf, And the Amery Ice Shelf. More Features!

  8. Historical Event! One historical event that happened in Antarctica was kind of like the “Ozone Timeline.” ‘Planetary Scale waves’ or ‘long waves’ heat up the air in Antarctica. The whole 'Ozone Timeline' started in the 1980's when the scientists found out the ozone was being polluted by certain chemicals called fluorocarbons. This was major, because the ozone layer protects us from harmful ultraviolet rays, and causes global warming. But, it was causing holes in our stratosphere, the second lowest layer in the atmosphere, and that is why it is referred to as "holes" in the atmosphere. This was a major historical event that happened not too long ago.
