  2. Short about Scotland • Scotland is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. • Edinburgh, the country's capital and second largest city, is one of Europe's largest financial centres. • The Kingdom of Scotland was an independent sovereign state before 1707, although it had been in a personal union with the Kingdom of England

  3. Scotland has been inhabited for at least the fifth millennium BC From the beginning there was an area where there have to confront different cultures and peoples (the Picts, Celts, Normans, Romans, Angles), but its wildlife is always felt on the side of the current rulers of these lands.

  4. Edinburgh • Edinburgh 1437 years from the Scottish capital and seat of the Scottish Parliament, whose deliberations resumed in 1999 after a break lasting from union with England in 1707. University town since 1583.

  5. Climate • The climate in Scotland is temperate maritime with relatively unstable weather. Scottish proverb reads: If you do not like the weather, wait a minute (If you do not like the weather, wait a minute). Scotland is subject to a beneficent influence of the Gulf Stream, which makes the climate much warmer than areas at comparable degrees of latitude, such as Oslo, Norway. Temperatures are lower than in other parts of Britain, which naturally results from its location in the north of the island.
