What we have done… • Created a Commissioning Strategy that has Dignity and Respect as a strategic priority • Completed a Dignity Audit throughout the whole of the Council • Sought Older Peoples views on how important Dignity and Respect is to them • Hosted an Awareness of Dignity Day for all staff and Service Providers – all service user groups • Sent Dignity in Care Cards to all Service Providers - at Fee Uplift time! • Customer Care Coordinator using the Dignity Cards • Raised Dignity in Care at all Forums, Partnership Boards, and meetings, both internal and external • Included specific Dignity Awareness Training in the Training Calendar • Overview and Scrutiny Panel Presentation and continuing interest, including further review with survey

What we are doing now… • Creating a Joint Dignity Statement with Partners in Health Services • Staff newsletter regular features • Creating an internal Dignity Champions network • Explicit features of Dignity in commissioning processes • Changing the Quality Assurance Template to include explicit Dignity in Care measures – internal and external • Reviewing how policies and procedures are written, including corporately: Dignity at Work • Changing the new staff induction process • Seeing the Practical Application – Meals Audit in Care Homes

What we have planned… • Changes to the Screensavers, showing the Dignity Messages, also posters and newsletter • Conference on the End of Life Strategy – Dignity in death • Changes to all job descriptions so that expectations are clear from the start • Changes to the confidentiality policy • Team Action Plans with Dignity and Respect • Service User Reference Groups • Work with CSIP!
