  21. Enterprise Vault™ Integration into VERITAS Products

  22. Enterprise Vault™ Integration with Veritas – Why? • Allow customers to have a tight integration with one vendor for their archiving & backup needs • Provide the ability to “migrate” Enterprise Vault™ files from secondary disk storage to tertiary tape storage • Provide the ability to retrieve files from tertiary storage to secondary storage • Give customers flexibility to write archival content to both disk and tape subsystems for Total Information Management™ • Provide the ability to duplicate, vault and expire tertiary storage

  23. Enterprise Vault™ & NetBackup™ Integration: When? • NBU integration is coming in three “waves” and the architecture is agreed • Use case scenario meetings between Engineering leads and PM’s for NBU and EV occurred 11/04. • Integration points agreed at meeting for both products. • Release content planning is in progress in each product development team for future releases • We have feature requirements for both products on the engineering schedules now for upcoming 2005/6 releases. • Compatibility testing is being performed for our V6 release which will ship in late Q1/05 • This will give customers confidence that the products can coexist in a complimentary manner. • Using NBU Media Manager as a storage target will occur in V6 mid-2005 • This maintenance release will allow for EV to write to NBU as a storage device via NBU Media Manager. This will give customer an integration to archive Enterprise Vault data to tape • With the Enterprise Vault™ 7 release we will enhance the products • to allow for ingestion from NBU sources, as well as migration of tertiary sources.
