Ilwg o ride faqs very important

ILWG O-Ride FAQs – very important!

Maximum ferry time of 25% per o-ride event is no longer a limit which will be imposed lower than the Wing level

Anticipated ferry time must be included in funding request

ILWG Form 610 has been rescinded and will not be replaced – this is no longer required for o-rides

As we consume our USAF O-Ride Funding, ILWG Operations will request additional funding from the GLR

The following will be published on the ILWG website:

Instructions for requesting ILWG funding of o-rides

Available funding for o-rides

ILWG & Group o-ride agreed goals and associated metrics

Group Orientation Flight Coordinator names

ILWG O-Ride FAQs - continued

A/C maintenance moves can and sometimes do interrupt o-rides. The impact of maintenance moves may be mitigated in the following ways:

The Unit or Group officer coordinating o-rides should inform the A/C POC of the date of the o-ride event. This is easily done by cc them on the request for o-ride funding. Ask the POC to keep this date in mind and try to preserve it for o-rides by seeking to work around maintenance scheduling issues if possible. Communication is the key here. The A/C POC is your resource.

ILWG O-Ride FAQs - continued

A/C maintenance moves can and sometimes do interrupt o-rides. The impact of maintenance moves may be mitigated in the following ways:

Mid cycle oil changes should not disrupt planned o-rides now that these oil changes may be done between 40-60 tach hours

If the plane you scheduled is about due for a mid-cycle oil change talk to the A/C POC ahead of time to learn of plans for the oil change informing the POC of the scheduled o-ride date. Request that the o-ride date be accommodated.

Contact the ILWG Orientation Flight Officer or the Operations Officer if needed.

ILWG O-Ride FAQs - continued

A/C maintenance moves can and sometimes do interrupt orides. The impact of maintenance moves may be mitigated in the following way:

Should an A/C be removed from its home base for a period of time, please remember that the 25% A/C ferry time limit no longer applies on a Unit level.  (It applies on the Wing level.)

If you need a different plane: present your request to use an alternate plane with the anticipated ferry time to the ILWG Orientation Flight Officer asking for approval.

Idea: ask a pilot who lives near the alternate airplane to fly the plane to you. In other words: use all of your resources.

Reasonable ferry time requests given the number of cadets signed up for the o-ride event will be approved.
