  2. m12-05-2013 TOPIC: -EQUIPPED WITH SURE HOPE DEVOTIONAL TEXT:- Psalm 130 SCRIPTURAL TEXT:- 2Peter 1:2-15, 20, 21 GOLDEN TEXT:- 2Peter 1:3:- “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness”

  3. AIM At the end of this lesson, we should be able to demonstrate hope in God’s power which is able to make us exhibit the godly virtues found in 2Peter 1:5-7.

  4. At the end this lesson, has the AIM achieved? Ladder of Virtues In verses 5-7, Peter uses what might be called a ladder of virtues to discuss the nature of growth that should be evident in our lives. These characteristics build on one another as we grow in Christian hope.

  5. Ladder of Virtues • Charity, or Love • Brotherly Kindness • Godliness • Patience, Perseverance • Temperance, or Self-control • Knowledge • Virtue, or Goodness • Faith

  6. The question is, what will we do with the message of the Power of the Gospel that Peter shared? Knowing and understanding that the truths we have accepted came directly from God by His Spirit (vv. 20, 21) Frame: Hemera Technologies/Photos.com/Thinkstock; Picture: Stockbyte/Thinkstock
