The Library seeks also to assist students in their self-education and overall personal development as well as to preserve the library collection for future generations. • Objectives of the Library: • To establish a learning environment that is stimulating, motivating and both academically and culturally enriching. • To create a user-centred range of services and to liase with the University staff, students and management to maintain a close understanding of their needs. • To identify and provide an easy access to all forms of information and literature for the staff and students of the University within a framework of accessibility and cost-effectiveness. • To promote the use of the library as a learning and research tool • To create a good image of the library within the academic society and to cooperate with other Polish and foreign libraries to encourage and support permanent education of the library staff • To conduct research in library and information science and related disciplines.

THE LIBRARY OF C U T Comparative Studies on Research and Scientific Libraries Programme for Data Collection and Analysis As a base for the study were outcomes of the survey “Analysis of library operation based on selected effectiveness indicators” were used. The survey was prepared within the Tempus JEP 13242-98 (Development of Library Management as a Part of the University Total Quality Management) coordinated by the Library of CUT. Objectives: • Analysis of the data and performance indicators from the libraries participating in the project; data concerned the year of the realization of the project and the preceding ones; • Creation of a set of comprehensive data on scientific libraries in Poland - available for the Standardization Group; • Automated computation of selected performance indicators basing on data form surveys; • Multi-aspect analysis of selected data and performance indicators from all the scientific libraries (comparative study) - available for the Standardization Group. • Tools: • Official site of the Project (only in Polish) • Includes: general information, instructions, questionnaires, • results of the surveys • Survey Questionnaire • Data base • Presentation of outcomes (Excel) www.bibl2.atr.bydgoszcz.pl/ankiety/ Library registration form
