1.) Estimate

2.)What is

Who are YOU?

I am the class of 2018.

I am responsible for my Character and my Education.

I am responsible for my life and all of my actions.

I AM a life-long Learner.

My education creates opportunities.

I will not violate the Integrity of my Character.

My Character is the key to my Success.

What does it take to be successful?

HARD WORK.

But I am not afraid of adversity.

There is Nothing I cannot Do.

The ME I see is the ME I’ll be.

I determine what I will become.

Yesterday’s failures are behind me.

Tomorrow’s Triumphs are now Before Me.

I Will make Today the Very Best day,

because THIS Day Begins the rest of my Life.

I accept the Challenge to be the best that I can be.

So LET’S GO!

Two Kinds of Real Numbers
• Rational Numbers
• Irrational Numbers
Rational Numbers
• A rational number is a number that can be expressed as a fraction or ratio(rational).
• When the fraction is divided out, it becomes a terminating or repeating decimal.
• All WHOLE NUMBERS (positive and negative)
Rational Numbers

Nice numbers.

1.= 0.1

2.  7  =7.0 or 7/1

3. -5.9 =

Rational: -6,-1/2, 0, 2/3…

Integers: …-2,-1,0,1,2..

Whole: 0,1,2,…

Natural: 1,2,3,….

Examples of Rational Numbers
Irrational Numbers
• An irrational number cannot be expressed as a fraction (no-ratio).
• Irrational numbers are non-terminating,

non-repeating decimals.

π= 3.141592654…..

= 1.414213562…..

OR = 3.25225222522225…

Naughty Numbers

Rational and Irrational Numbers
• Convert the following to decimals!
• 1) 5/11
• 2) 22/7
• 4/5
• Do they repeat? Terminate? Neither?
Work Period Agenda:
• Rational/Irrational Activity
• Complete a Double Bubble Thinking Map Comparing/Contrasting Rational and Irrational Numbers.
Closing
• Complete a Double Bubble Thinking Map Comparing/Contrasting Rational and Irrational Numbers.
