  2. Affordable Housing Affordable housing means different connotations for different people Affordable housing must be differentiated from low cost housing For different segment of society the word ‘affordable’ has different cost connotations

  3. Affordable Housing How can a builder create affordable housing - By Forward Costing Method - By selection of material to suit the pocket of the target buyer - By generating resources from economy of scale

  4. Policy Related Issues • Population Density Norms • Enhancement of FAR / FSI • Tax Incentives to the developers • Reduction in stamp duty • Codal Relief

Design Related Issues Modular and compact design with maximum efficiency i.e. optimum use of common areas Standard design of room size, door/windows, tiles to minimize wastage during construction as well as optimize the cost Construction of low rise buildings (G+3) or (G+4) without use of lifts and costly fire-fighting arrangements & load bearing walls
