  2. Childhood • Born in L.A. on June 1, 1926 as Norma Jeane Mortenson to her mother was Gladys Baker. • Mother worked in the filming business. Went crazy and sent to an institution in 1935. • Norma Jeane had to go to an orphanage in L.A. She was orphan number 3463.

  3. Growing up… • 1938 goes to live with Ana Lower. • 1942 marries Jim Dougherty • In April of 1944 she got a job at Radio Plane Munitions Factory.

  4. Becoming Popular • First national magazine cover April 26 1946. • Photographed by David Connover for Yank Magazine in June 1946. • First interview at 20th Century Fox with Ben Lyon July

  5. Monroe’s firsts… • First Screen Test for 20th Century Fox July 19 1946. • First  studio contract with Fox, Norma Jeane changed her name to Marilyn Monroe August 26 1946. • First mention in a Hollywood gossip column July 29 1946.

  6. Big changes… • August 2 1946 she applies to Blue Book Modeling Agency. • September 13 1946 divorces James Dougherty. • August 1947 fox contract was not renewed, dropped by Fox. • February 1948 befriends mogul Joseph M. Schneck. • Signs a contract with Columbia Pictures in March of 1948. Dropped by them in September of the same year.

  7. New things • Signs contract with MGM for role in The Asphalt Jungle in October of 1949. • January 5th 1950 starts shooting the film The Fireball. • Lands small part in All About Eve in April 1950. • Signs a new contract with Fox in December 10 1950.

  8. Presents an Oscar at the Academy Awards ceremony in March of 1951. • April 18 1951 starts shooting Love Nest. • May 11 1951 six month contract converts to seven year deal. • March 13 1952 nude calendar story broken to the public. • April 17 1952 gets first life magazine cover.

  9. September 13 of 1953 first TV appearance in “The Jack Benny Show” • December 15 1953 fails to turn up for the first day of shooting on the Girl in the Pink Tights. • January 4 1954 Fox suspends her. • January 14 1954 marries Joe DiMaggio at San Francisco City Hall.

  10. October 5 1954 officially spearates from joe and October 27 1954 divorce hearing. • Granted final divorce October 31 1955. • June 29 1956 marries Arthur Miller in a civil ceremony and July in a Jewish ceremony. • August 1 1957 becomes pregnant but loses baby.

  11. Lasts…. • August 1962 Mrilyn’s last day alive includes a six hour session with Greenson. • Police called her home on August 5 1962. This was her official day of death. • Funeral was on August 8 1962 at Westwood Medical Park Cemetery. • August 28 death certificate was signed.
