  2. Reasons to invest in a video system? Examples of complete video systems What to look for in a camera What to look for in a video switcher What do I do with the video output? Pitfalls to watch out for Topics

  3. Image Magnification (IMAG) Recording for Distribution Internet Streaming Multisite campuses Reasons To Invest In Video

  4. Resolution Most decent cameras today are HD If you are projecting 720p, you don’t necessarily need 1080i or 1080p cameras You can always bring down the resolution cleanly, but scaling up isn’t always clean. What to look for in a camera

  5. Optical Zoom Ignore digital zoom How far is your camera going to be from the stage? How tight do you want to be able to zoom? What to look for in a camera

  6. Image Sensor Avoid single chip, look for 3CMOS, 3MOS or 3CCD CMOS sensors are cheaper, less power intensive, found in smaller and cheaper handheld cameras CCD are higher quality, have more pixels and are more expensive Size matters! The less light you have, the bigger the image you need to produce quality video What to look for in a camera

  7. SD or HD What kinds of inputs do you need? Fewer converters mean less latency Latency Video Sync (Genlock, Frame Sync) Keying What kinds of outputs do you need? (projectors, streaming, recorders, etc.) What to look for in a video switcher

  8. Projectors Recorders Live Streaming Overflow displays What do I do with the video output?

  9. Poor Lighting – Lighting makes video Latency – Every conversion adds latency Pitfalls
