  16. Washington & Faulkner County Extension Offices The Washington County Extension Office opened the doors to its new building in 1995. Faulkner County Extension moved into their new office, located in the Faulkner County Resource Center, in October 2005. These facilities are used for educational events such as the Extension Homemakers, 4-H Clubs, Master Gardeners, and other Division activities.

  17. C.A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center, Ferndale The C.A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center is an education and conference center in Ferndale that hosts many of the statewide 4-H events, 4-H camps, the 4-H Arkansas Outdoor School, the 4-H ExCEL program and other 4-H programs. It is also hosts government, non profits, religious conferences and retreats. Each year over 20,000 people attend events at the 4-H Center.

Arkansas Agricultural REC, Fayetteville The 725-acre AAREC is used by all AAES research disciplines and includes research in the areas of animal science; poultry science; food science; horticulture; insect pests and diseases; crops, soil and water research; biological and agricultural engineering; and agriscience and technology. Research at AAREC is integrated with student training from the Fayetteville campus.

  19. Northeast REC, Keiser The Keiser location includes the center headquarters and a 750-acre research farm. Research at this location includes work on the major economic crops of the Delta. Tests of management systems, pest control, breeding activity and foundation seed work associated with cotton, soybean, corn and sorghum production are conducted.

AR Forest Resources Center & Southeast REC, Monticello The Arkansas Forest Resources Center is dedicated to the development and transfer of timely and objective information, focusing on solutions to problems facing Arkansas agriculture. The Southeast REC’s 300 acres of research facilities include a cow herd, pastures and facilities for beef cattle research, greenhouses, laboratories and a small acreage for vegetables and row crops. SEREC also includes the Rohwer Research Station in Desha County.

  21. Southeast REC, Rohwer The Station’s 725 acres are used by scientists from SEREC and numerous other locations for projects on weed and pest management; irrigation; soil fertility; crop rotation and variety performance testing.

  22. SouthwestREC, Hope The Southwest REC contains 1,185 acres that focus on the needs of small farms in southwest Arkansas. A 300-head beef herd focuses on forages and stocker cattle and has emphasized drought management and 300 days of grazing for south Arkansas. Hardwood and pine stands offer opportunities for forestry research. Recently, wildlife food plot research has been started. Field plots for fruit, vegetables, and row crops are present. The center operates the Arkansas Plant Parasitic Nematode Diagnostic clinic and a regional forage quality lab.

  23. Rice REC, Stuttgart The Center’s 950 acres are devoted to research in rice and rotation crops. RREC is the largest rice research location in the United States with a faculty of 14 people including 12 scientists and 1 county agent.

  24. Livestock and Forestry Research Station, Batesville The 3,042 acres are ideally suited for beef cattle, forage and forestry research. A 250-head cow herd on 1,200 acres of pasture is used for forage and beef cattle research. Research here includes management of oak and pine species and wildlife management.

  25. Fruit Research Station, Clarksville The station is the site of a world-recognized fruit breeding program. Lines of research on peaches, grapes, blackberries and blueberries have intellectual property protection. The station includes 230 acres in a transition zone microclimate suitable for fruit crops adapted to either southern or northern Arkansas. Research plantings include peaches, nectarines, grapes, blueberries, blackberries and muscadines.

  26. Lon Mann Cotton Research Station, Marianna The Station includes 653 acres for comprehensive research on row crops. The Division's Soil Testing and Research Laboratory is also at this location. The laboratory provides free soil testing services for Arkansas residents. The faculty and staff also conduct research on soil and plant nutrition management.

  27. Vegetable Research Station, Kibler The Station consists of 87 acres of irrigated plot land. Breeding programs include those on spinach, greens and Southern peas. Row crop studies include soybean and wheat variety trails, wheat and canola breeding, fungicide testing and soil fertility research.

Savoy and Judd Hill Research Unit The 3,100-acre unit in Savoy is home to industry-scale units for poultry and swine research, along with research on beef cattle stocker, backgrounding and a cow/calf operation. Judd Hill Foundation is funded from the profits of farming operations on 3,800 acres of the Judd Hill Plantation in Poinsett County.
