When did the initiative originate? • Started in November 2004 with a meeting called by Dr. Hinds to resolve reporting issues. • Gained traction in April 2007 with the merging of IR, IM, IE, and IT reporting into EIM. • An RFP was initiated, only two respondents. • SAS went into production in July 2008 as the Virtual Information Center.

  4. Who is involved with the initiative? • Enterprise Information Management • End-user support for the reporting tools • Construct as well as use information and analytic reports • Information Technology Services (ITS) • Technology support

  6. What is the initiative achieving? • Improving access to operational information. • Banner • Oracle/PeopleSoft Financials • ADP • Improving access to strategic information. • USG Data Warehouse • KSU Data Warehouse

What is the initiative achieving? • Promoting better interpretation and consistency in information reporting. • Generating visual interpretations of statistical tables and numerical summaries. • Facilitates use for informed decision making. • Reporting accurate and consistent data to external agencies. • Routine statistical reports and data (i.e., IPEDS, CUPA, AAUP). • Optimizing consistent use of standardized data. • Producing accurate and timely unit-level and program-level information. • Program accreditation reporting and ad-hoc reporting needs.

  8. What is the initiative achieving? • Advancing data quality and data integrity. • Monitoring of transactional/operational databases that require correction and/or improved business practices in data capture and maintenance.

Why is the initiative important? • Aids in presenting data in layouts and aggregations not currently available. • Provides real-time tracking of progress in a self-service capacity. • Provides uniform and standardized reporting of commonly used data and metrics. • Assists with providing a rational basis for data enabled decision making.

  14. Why is the initiative important? • Provides a mechanism for reporting to the appropriate sub-unit level (i.e., university, college, and department). • Helps save time by allowing easy access to complex data structures. • Connects disparate operational data together in a standardized format.

  15. Where is the initiative going in the future? Two enhancements to be released at the start of Fall 2011: • Futrix • A third party add-in for SAS for analytical data. • Google OneBox with SAS Add-in • Enables dynamic searching for reports and analysis.

Where is the initiative going in the future? • EIM is working toward strengthening KSU’s Data Governance efforts using SAS. • The SAS DataFlux software will be implemented to monitor data quality and data integrity. • Build partnerships with the emerging ISAS (Institute for Statistical Analytical Studies). • EIM’s mission will focus on automated analytics and information reporting. • Implement the SAS Strategy Management Solution to support strategic planning.
