  2. Why change? The iGCSE English course is: • Linear allowing learners to take the iGCSEin 1 year • Streamlined, making this more manageable • Rigorous, thorough & well-tested It allows us: • To tailor work to the needs and interests of our learners • To move from Controlled Assessment to a coursework approach • To enter students for an exam option if coursework is not to target or outstanding

  3. What does the course offer? Cambridge IGCSE English allows students to: • develop the ability to communicate clearly, accurately and effectively when speaking and writing • learn how to use a wide range of vocabulary, and the correct grammar, spelling and punctuation • develop a personal style and an awareness of the audience being addressed. Students are also encouraged to read widely, both for their own enjoyment and to further their awareness of the ways in which English can be used. Cambridge IGCSE English also develops more general analysis and communication skills such as synthesis, inference, and the ability to order facts and present opinions effectively.
