  3. Session Content • Provide an update on the status of health department accreditation applicants to date • Describe the latest developments in the continued improvement of the accreditation program. • Share some common tips for health departments to use in preparing for accreditation

  4. Health Department Applicant Training • December 2011 – 29 participants • April 2012- 15 participants • July 2012 - ?? Possibly 40 participants Health department Accreditation Coordinators attend the training after the application has been approved to pass to the next step and the first fee payment has been made. Most health departments bring one other person to the training.

  11. Version 1.0 Accreditation Materials • Version 1.0 of the Standards and Measures will apply to applicants through 2013. • The fee schedule will remain the same.

Multi-Jurisdictional Applications • PHAB accredits health departments • MJD applications must demonstrate a high degree of interdependence • Geographically contiguous preferred • Limitations on the number could occur • Shared documentation reviewed once • Same process for other LHDs prevails • Fee structure TBD

  16. Additional Tips from the Accreditation Coordinators • Remember to look at the "Acceptable File Formats" document. A lot of users are uploading .pub and .msg. Neither are accepted file formats. • Screenshots of websites need a date. The date can either be visible within the screenshot, or the AC can type the date the screenshot was taken in the document with the screenshot. • Showcase a variety of PH programs. In some cases I have seen the majority of documentation come from a limited number of programs.-

Additional Tips from the Accreditation Coordinators • Many HDs have documents that are very lengthy (without direction identifying where the SVT should look), or multiple (5+) different documents are being combine into one PDF. I think the SVTs may have difficulty locating specific elements of the Req. Doc. Our advice for this would really be to make sure the documentation is targeted and make it easy for the SVT to see how the documentation meets conformity.
