  6. I. Avoid pretenders who are not lovers of God (2-5) Summary of a pretender’s behavior 2 Timothy 3:5  “having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.” What should be the believer’s response to the pretending follower? Is my life truly worth imitating, or is it just a superficial appearance?

  7. II. Avoid pretenders who take advantage of the weak (6-7) 2 Timothy 3:6-7 “For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.”

  8. III. Avoid pretenders who oppose truth (8) 2 Timothy 3:8 “Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith.” What did these men have in common with the False Teachers (pretenders) in Ephesus?

  9. IV. Pretenders will be exposed (9) 2 Timothy 3:9 "But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men.”
