  3. The First Round of River Basin Planning • Seven Basins • Started in the summer of 1999 • The last one will be completed early in 2006

  4. The First Round of River Basin Planning • Public participation has been a large component of the plans • Basin Advisory Groups (BAGs) • Develop basin issues list • Review draft products • Assist in the development of Future Water Use Opportunities

  7. The Framework What is it? • The Framework Water Plan will consolidate the data developed for the seven individual plans into a single statewide water plan.

  8. The Framework What will it provide? • It will provide a statewide perspective for water resource planners • It will set the course for the next five years • It will include a statewide presentation tool that is internet based

  9. Challenges of the Framework • GIS • Summarizing the data developed for the plans • Determining the best way to address differences in the data

End Products of the Framework • Recommendations for inclusion of ground water in the next round of basin plan • Recommendations on how to address water rights in the next round • Outline any data that needs to be added or corrected • Other recommendations for the next round of River Basin Planning

  11. What will change for the BAGs? • The BAGs will be asked to appoint a representative • The representative will attend progress review meetings at 5%, 50%, and 90% completion of the study

  12. What will change for the BAGs? • The representative can be reimbursed for mileage and travel expenses • Consultants will not attend every meeting

  13. What is the timeline? • Notice to Proceed will be issued February 2006 • Consultants will attend the summer and fall 2006 BAG meetings • Final Report will be due June 2007
