  4. Napoli • 3rd largest city in Italy • Capital of the Campagna region • 4th largest urban economy in Italy • one of the most important ports in Europe • has oldest State University in the world: • University of Naples Federico II • founded by Frederick II in 1224

  6. Culture • birthplace of pizza • Margherita pizza in honor of Queen Margherita • known for its theaters (among the oldest in Europe), museums, and castles • SCC Napoli- professional Italian football club founded 1926

  7. What to See • National Archaeological Museum • Roman artifacts from Pompeii, Stabiae, Herculaneum (buried by eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D.)
