The Little Prince The little prince asked a pilot to draw a sheep and every time the pilot would draw a sheep the little prince would be displeased with the drawing, so finally the pilot drew a box and said that the sheep was inside. The prince was very happy about it. We may have the best of intentions when we correct a child’s work, but we need to remember that sometimes they have their own vision of things. To kill this vision is to stifle creativity, imagination, and limit their ability to accept different points of view.

  26. Homework • Homework may be sent home ( coloring pages, tracing) • Things to remember while doing homework: • Should be enjoyable process • Should be done by the child • Encourage the child to hold the pencil/crayon correctly • Not mandatory – don’t force a reluctant child

  27. How parents can help: • By asking children how was their day at school • By encouraging children to be independent (get ready, put-on/ take-off shoes, clean up, help with household work) • By reviewing topics, songs, rhymes we study at school • By asking children about their art, literacy or math work • By reading together with a child using native language • By providing materials such as scissors, paint, glue, crayons and craft materials that are easily accessible
