  2. MCDO Status • All 616 Indian MCDOs delivered • Tesla Engineering: • 208/616 completed (+spares) • Delivery rate 24/month • Last series delivery April 2006 + 3-4 months for 100 spares M. Karppinen AT-MEL-MC

MCDSO: How many and by when? • Approx 280 (continue production until LOI & the tooling is modified - approx 1 month) • Approx 321 (keep magnets already finished, scrap MCO's already made & stop MCO production until tooling is modified) • Lead-time approx. 20 weeks: • 2 to 3 weeks decision & LOI • tooling modification 3 to 4 weeks • ~14 weeks to clear backlog of already built magnets through cold testing M.   4. MCDSO: Cost • CHF 7’196 (CHF4’800 for tooling, CHF2’396 for modification of existing piece parts already in stock). • CHF23’780 (CHF4’800 for tooling, CHF18’980 for modification of existing piece parts already in stock + scrapping of MCO modules already built) M. Karppinen AT-MEL-MC

But.. • skew octupoles can only be fed from point 4 or 6 • Test one MCDSO at cold as the forces add up differently during combined powering. • a single 'accurate' magnet,modification of a single assembly mandrel (CHF1200), manufacture of a single connection support plate (~CHF400), lead time ~ 6 to 8 weeks to testing of finished magnet. • 'rough' magnet by modifying an existing plate by hand & assembling by eye.
