  1. in the Classroom loans that change lives Kiva is a global organization that allows people to lend money via the internet to microfinance institutions in developing countries around the world and in the United States. During the project, Brunswick High School’s Kiva account was expanded, then allowing students the opportunity to loan to a selected entrepreneur. Mr. Levy’s class choose to loan to the Sonadores Con Propositos Group. Kiva is a rapidly growing institution with 2,500 members joining every week. As of December, 2009 Kiva had distributed $110,671,610 in loans. Jasper Lowe and Cody Smith took their project into multiple local classrooms as well as the Highlands Retirement Community.
