  2. Hog roast were a common meal in the past, when whole pigs were roasted to feed entire households. Today, many families all over the world have a pig roast during important dates like Christmas Eve or Thanksgiving and in some regions, it’s a major part of the national dish.

  3. In the UK, a hog roast will usually be done on a spit in a roaster, and often include stuffing and/or a flavour enhancing rub. However, there are many different ways to cook hog roasts around the world.

Rather than using a spit, some BBQ catering services use a roasting method which involves splitting a whole pig in half before placing the meat-side first on a hot grill and then flipping it over when the fat stops dripping. Using this method, it should take four to eight hours for the meat to be ready.

  5. Here in the UK, the dining process is very informal and doesn’t demand perfect arrangement as long as there’s easy access to the meat. In fact, some firms will even supply the pig and the equipment so you can cook your own, and hog roast leftovers can be used to prepare delicious meals later.
