    2. Time for Renewal 5 year renewal cycle New process in place: SACS/CASI Submit Self-Assessment 6 weeks prior to visit—June, 2011 Visit will be November, 2011

School Improvement Definitions SACS—Southern Accreditation of Colleges and Schools Council CASI—North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement Advanc-ED—unification of SACS, CASI, and the National Study of School Evaluation SAR—Standards Assessment Report--online QAR—Quality Assurance Review

    4. What is School Improvement? Focuses on student improvement Consists of 7 standards and subcommittees Allows us to examine our current goals ensuring that we address each unique learning need of our students Provides us with a tool to assess the quality of teaching strategies

    5. Term Accreditation Every year—adhere to the AdvancED standards 6weeks—6 months before QAR—submit SAR Year of review—prepare for the visit from team—what we’re preparing for now Year after review—act on team’s recommendations and document progress Two years after review—act on team’s recommendations and submit a two year progress report to AdvancED

Self-Assessment Three Cornerstones of Accreditation Standards Continuous Improvement Quality Assurance Review (QAR) Purpose Engages in evaluation of each of the 7 standards Identifies strengths and opportunities for improvement Accurately describes the Continuous Improvement process Serves as the primary resource for the QAR

    8. Seven AdvancED Standards AdvancED indicators Impact Statement—what would HHS look like if the standard were fully implemented? Indicator rubrics—operational definitions, descriptions of exemplary practices and processes—”not evident”, “emerging”, “operational”, “fully/highly functional” Focus Questions—systemic and systematic processes that support HHS’s ability to meet the indicators Prepare Standard level contextual narrative Complete the Self-Assessment

    9. SACS/CASI—New process Complete a Self-Assessment—must be completed 6weeks to 6 months prior to visit Prepare an Executive Institutional Summary Introduction Summary of Student Performance Discussion of challenges and opportunities Conclusion

AdvancED Accreditation Standards The foundation upon which HHS’s accreditation is based….we must comply with all 7 standards Product/Process—refer to Standard 4.1, Indicator 4.1 and Standard 2, Indicator 2.5 Assessments—data from test scores, observations, perceptions Artifacts—data from newsletters, reports, minutes, report cards Focus Questions—provides opportunity for us to reflect on appropriate documentation relevant to the standard

    12. Continuous Improvement—Standard 7 Vision—clear, compelling shared purpose and direction for the school Profile—school’s current reality Plans—What are we going to do to improve student performance and how are we going to do it? Results—What worked, what didn’t, and why?
