  2. Use marble & steelie instead of plastic ball & bocce ball. Make a track using meter sticks. You will only need 1 clamp. Clamp the 1“ block on top of the 2-meter stick track. You only need to clamp 1 end of the track. Make motion in the direction of the clamp/block which will act as a stop. Add a step b4 step 1. Make a statement about the relative mass of the marble & steelie. Try trial where you vary speed. Don’t get too carried away. Pre-lab p.229 lab

  3. Purpose, data, conclusion Purpose: to observe & analyze the collision of a marble & a steelie. Data – an enumerated list of observations. Conclusion – enumerate & answer the 2 analysis questions & the critical thinking question. Lab report

  4. To the equipment list - Add balance & change 2 meter sticks to 4. Key to lab for each trial is to have the carts collide with the barrier simultaneously. Initial P needs to be in the data table. One of the 2 final momenta should be neg. 3 trials 1) empty/empty; 2) empty/loaded; loaded/loaded. Measure distance from back of carts. What will be the units of P for this lab? Use 1st notch of the plunger. (shortest notch) (show them) The carts do not necessary need to be in contact.(show them explain why – bc of unlevel table carts may want to roll.) Momentum lab

  5. Lab Report: Purpose; data table(s); Conclusion • Conclusion: • Derive the formula V1/V2 = d1/d2 • In what units did you measure P in? • What statement can you make about the total P of the 2 carts b4 & after the explosion? • What is the total P 2 min. after the explosion? Is this observation consistent with above statement? Explain. Momentum lab

  6. Line through metal rod or dow replace it with iron ring – we will tie the thread to an iron ring. • Add balance & adjustable table to the equipment list. • We will clamp the razor blade on both sides & the adjustable table is for one of those ring stands. • Need to determine 2 dys& call one ht. & the other one dy. ht. = distance from release pt. to cut point. dywill be from cut point to the floor for determining t from pt. cut to land in order to determine dx to determine vx so we can determine final KE. • 3 trials. Energy Conservation lab

  7. Purpose, data, calculations, conclusion. Conclusion – make a statement as to whether Mech. E was conserved & account for exp. error. Energy Conservation lab – lab report
