Once a man dies and the earth drinks up his blood, there is no resurrection.

A T H E N S

A t h e n s

Acts 17:30-31 ~ Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.

A t h e n s

Acts 17:32 ~ And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, “We will hear you again on this matter.”

A t h e n s

If a man dies, shall he live again? (Job 14:14)

For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God. (Job 19:25-26)

A t h e n s

And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. (Daniel 12:2)

A t h e n s

John 14:19 ~ Because I live, you will live also.

John 11:25 ~ Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”

A t h e n s

What’s the issue here

in 1 Corinthians 15?

A t h e n s

Not doubting the resurrection of Jesus,

but doubting their own resurrection

in a coming day!

This is about you coming out of your grave,

me coming out of my grave

and us coming out of our graves!!

A t h e n s

Jesus Rose From The Dead.

He Did! (V1-11)

A t h e n s

The Gospel is . . .

Holy God in love became

Perfect Man to bear my blame

On the Cross He took my sin

By His death I live again

A t h e n s

The Gospel is . . .

One day when heaven was filled with his praises,One day when sin was as black as could be,Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin—Dwelt amongst men, my example is he!

A t h e n s

The Gospel is . . .

One day they led him up Calvary's mountain,One day they nailed him to die on the tree;Suffering anguish, despised and rejected:Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is he!

A t h e n s

The Gospel is . . .

One day they left him alone in the garden,One day he rested, from suffering free;Angels came down o'er his tomb to keep vigil;Hope of the hopeless, my Saviour is he!

A t h e n s

The Gospel is . . .

One day the grave could conceal him no longer,One day the stone rolled away from the door; Then he arose, over death he had conquered; Now is ascended, my Lord evermore!

A t h e n s

The Gospel is . . .

One day the trumpet will sound for his coming,One day the skies with his glories will shine;Wonderful day, my beloved ones bringing;Glorious Saviour, this Jesus is mine!

A t h e n s

The Gospel is . . .

Living, he loved me; dying, he saved me;Buried, he carried my sins far away;Rising, he justified freely, for ever:One day he's coming—O, glorious day!

A t h e n s

The Gospel is . . .

A Message about GOD

A Message about SIN

A Message about CHRIST

A Message about REPENTANCE & FAITH

In conclusion . . .

Up from the grave He arose,With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,He arose a Victor from the dark domain,And He lives forever, with His saints to reign. He arose! He arose!Hallelujah! Christ arose!

A t h e n s

If Jesus Didn’t Rise From The Dead . . . ! (V12-19)

A t h e n s

Someone said: There is no resurrection of the dead.

(Dead men do not rise)

If dead men do not rise, then Jesus Christ

(a man who died on the cross) did not rise!

If Jesus Christ did not rise, then . . .

A t h e n s

If Jesus Christ did not rise, then . . .

(a) Our preaching is vain, your faith is vain!

The Gospel is like a house, where Christ’s resurrection is its pillar.

Remove the pillar and the house will collapse.

A t h e n s

If Jesus Christ did not rise, then . . .

(b) The apostles are liars!

If they can’t be trusted in this matter, how can we trust them in other matters?

If they didn’t get it right here, how do we know they will get it right in all other matters?

A t h e n s

If Jesus Christ did not rise, then . . .

(c) You are still in your sins!

Jesus died on the cross in my place, to bear the punishment of my sins. How do I know that God has accepted His sacrifice?

BY HIS RESURRECTION!!

A t h e n s

If Jesus Christ did not rise, then . . .

(d) Our hope for believers who died is dashed!

They are gone forever, with sins un-forgiven.

Hence, they have perished!

A t h e n s

If Jesus Christ did not rise, then . . .

(e) We Christians are BIG fools!

Why live the Christian Life now if Christ is rotting in some tomb in Palestine?

If He hasn’t risen, then He ascended and hence He shall not return. So why bother?

A t h e n s

If Jesus Christ did not rise, then . . .

(a) Our preaching is vain, your faith is vain!

(b) The apostles are liars!

(c) You are still in your sins!

(d) Our hope for believers who died is dashed!

(e) We Christians are BIG fools!

A t h e n s

If Jesus Didn’t Rise From The Dead . . . ! (V12-19)

Feel the force of your denial!!

A t h e n s

BUT Jesus Christ did rise, then . . .

If Jesus Christ did not rise, then . . .

(a) Our preaching is vain, your faith is vain

(a) Your faith well-grounded

(b) The apostles are liars!

(b) The apostles are trustworthy!

(c) Your sins are forgiven!

(c) You are still in your sins!

(d) Our hope for believers who died is dashed!

(d) Believers who died are alive, shall live forever!

(e) We Christians are BIG fools!

(e) We Christians are to be ENVIED!

With God, all things are possible!

A t h e n s

Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth— those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

John 5:28-29

A t h e n s

No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 6:44

A t h e n s

Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.

Romans 8:23

A t h e n s

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day . . . For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

2 Corinthians 4:16, 5:1

2 Corinthians 4:16, 5:1

A t h e n s

For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life.

2 Corinthians 5:2-4

A t h e n s

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

The glory of God is like brightness of the sun, while the glorification of believers is like the brightness of the moon, a reflected glory. No sun, no moon. There is no believer’s glorification apart from God and Christ’s glory.
