  2. For Salt Lake Community College students who own a car, is the price for their car related to their GPA?

  3. Data Collection • Sampling Method: Simple Random • Strata: Jordan, Taylorsville and South City Campuses • 50 samples from each campus. • Price of car recorded as price paid when purchased and current GPA was used.

  4. Price of Car Histogram • Well over half of the students had cars in the < $20,000 range • Only a very small number had cars costing over $30,000

  5. As you can see the box plot is skewed heavily to the right, due to the high number of relatively moderate priced vehicles in conjunction with a few in the higher price range. Car Price Box Plot

  6. Price of car stats The mean price of a car was $12,523 while the range was over $50,000

  7. GPA Histogram • The ranges with the most students were • 3.0-3.24 • 3.5-3.74 • The majority were over 3.0.

  12. RESULTS Our study was unable to find any correlation between the GPA and price of vehicle for Salt Lake City Community College students and concludes that the two variables appear to be unrelated
