  7. Club Structure • SLCCC Pastors / Elders • AWANA Commander • Club Leader • Teachers/Assistants

Coworker Expectations • Reflect Christ-like attitudes during your service • Take initiative and challenge yourself • Know when you are scheduled to serve and your responsibilities when you do serve • Arrive on-time (7:15PM) and properly equipped (uniforms, materials) • Enforce disciplines as needed • Check e-mail regularly

  9. Coworker Scheduling • Though we may take into consideration requests to teach your own children, please understand that we are all here to teach God’s children. You may or may not be teaching your own. • Your schedule to serve will be communicated to you by club leaders. • What if I can’t serve when I’m scheduled to?

  10. Language Used in AWANA • English is the primary language • If a child does not speak English, Chinese may be used to talk specifically to that child.

  11. AWANA Clubs

SLCCC AWANA Clubs • Cubbies: 3-5 years old • Sparks: K-2nd Grade • T&T (Truth and Training): 3rd – 6th Grade • All children need to be registered by completing a registration form and pay associated fee. Registration fees are used to pay for non-reimbursable items such as teaching materials, club dues, awards, etc.

  14. Opening Ceremony • Time/Place: In the main sanctuary at 7:30PM. Coworkers are expected to arrive at 7:15PM. • To-do: Welcome clubbers, reciting pledges to American flag and AWANA flag, sing AWANA theme song, special announcements. • Sitting: Each class will be sitting in designated areas. • At the end, clubbers are dismissed by class. Please lead your class to the classrooms or games. • Lead teacher for each class should pick up the Class Supply Box and class folder from basement supply room.

Game Time • Cubbies – small group games. • Sparks and T&T: Held in multipurpose room (here) and organized by Games co-workers. • Each clubber is assigned to a specific color team (red, blue, green, yellow) • Need to wear tennis shoes or shoes with backings • Teacher/Assistant To-do during game time: • Encourage your team members • Help get the team ready for next round of games • Help ensure the games are played correctly • Control the team’s behavior • Winning teams will get extra AWANA Shares

  16. Activity Time • Bonding time…. Use your creativity to arrange variety of activities: • In-classroom games • Prayers • Sharing • Crafts

Handbook Time - 1 • Handbook Progression Path: • Entrance booklet – complete to earn handbook and uniform • Handbooks • Review books for extra credit • Cubbies: • Entrance booklet: Bear Hug • Handbook: Jumper • Sparks: • Entrance booklet: Flight 3:16 • Handbook: • Hang Glider (K), Wing Runner (1st), Sky Stormer (2nd) • T&T • Entrance booklet: Start Zone • Handbook: T&T Adventure Book 1 and 2; T&T Challenger Book 1 and 2.

Handbook Time - 2 • Handbook Rules: • Sections must be done in order (no jumping around), only exception is Bring-A-Friend for Sparks/T&T. • Verses must be recited by memory and word-for-word, clubber can’t look at the handbooks • Coworkers can provide up to 3 helps per sitting • There is no credit for sections

  19. Lesson Time • How do I know if I’m teaching or assisting? • How do I know when I’m teaching? • Who am I teaching? • What am I teaching? • What do I do when I’m not teaching? • What do we do when there is a guest speaker?

Closing Ceremony • Time to give out awards earned that night and make special announcements, upcoming events. • Co-workers should bring clubbers back to the main santuary by 9:00PM and lead them back to the same designated pews as opening ceremony. • Dismissal procedure: • Cubbies and Sparks: back to the classrooms for parents pickup. • T&T groups to take turns setting up multipurpose room tables/chairs. Need adult supervision. • Co-workers need to make sure the classroom used is clean and supply box is put away in the basement supply closet.

AWANA Shares and AWANA Store • AWANA Shares are paper “dollars” that are earned at various times in the evening, ie. • Uniform/Handbook/Bible/Proper Shoes: 1 share • Handbook Verse Recitation: 1 share/section • Games: 1-2 shares per winning team member • DoubleShare night: everything doubled • AWANA Prize Store • At various times of the year, children have the opportunity to redeem their AWANA shares to prizes at the AWANA Prize Store, which will be held at the multipurpose room.

  24. AWANA Book Store • Time: Nightly open 9:15PM to 9:45PM • Place: 2nd floor of the main sanctuary. • For parents to purchase uniforms and handbooks once their children earns them as they progress through the books.

  25. Discipline • Discipline is related to the word disciple. • To disciple is to instruct. • Discipline is about teaching, not punishment.

  26. Disruptive Behavior Handling • Verbal Warning • Time out / talk with Club Leader/Commander • Send to parents / talk with parents • When not sure how to handle the situation, consult with Club Leader and/or Commander immediately.

Administrative Items • Attendance Sheets: • New sheet will be provided to you along with the supply box. • Classroom Supply Box: • Each class has a supply box that is kept in the supply closet in the basement. • Making Copies: • If you need to make AWANA related copies, please use the copy code 9718. This is to be used only for AWANA related copies.
