  2. Photography These pictures show the River Severn at Ironbridge and the South Wales coast at Porthcawl . The River Severn runs into the Bristol Channel which is the name of the sea on which Porthcawl is situated. The tidal range at Porthcawl is one of the greatest in Europe and explains why there have been plans for a Severn barrage which would use tidal power to create electricity.
