Ballet In Europe. By: Savannah Mason. What is Ballet?. Ballet is a popular dance in Europe. Ballet has some moves that can be done quickly or be done slowly. The French allows men and woman (Girls/Boys)take ballet classes. A popular play that has a lot of ballet in it is “The Nutcracker.”

What is Ballet? • Ballet is a popular dance in Europe. • Ballet has some moves that can be done quickly or be done slowly. • The French allows men and woman (Girls/Boys)take ballet classes. • A popular play that has a lot of ballet in it is “The Nutcracker.” • When people dance to ballet they are expressing a feeling.

Why is Ballet Popular in Europe? • Ballet is popular in Europe because a woman named Catherine De’ Medici brought ballet to France. • Ballet is also popular in Europe because many people there are a fan of opera music. • The dance ballet usually has opera music playing in the background getting danced to. • Ballet is popular in Europe because “The Nutcracker” was a very popular play done all over the world. • When the play The Nutcracker started to show in Europe the dance ballet came more popular because there is ballet in the play.

The Ballerina’s Moves • The ballerina is performing movements like: • The Passé : a position and a dance move when your toe touches your knee. • A Pirouette : a position in which your toe touches your knee and you spin. • The Arabesque: The word means spiral. In the arabesque is a position in which you point one leg straight out and put both arms up in the air.

  6. The Ballerina’s Message • The ballerina is dancing to the Waltz of the Snowflakes. • The ballerinas message is when the girl meets the boy in the pine forest in winter time, when it begins to snow, they are starting to fall in love.

What do you do in Ballet? • In a ballet you perform special movements that present a feeling or express action and emotion. • The movements that you learn are similar to gestures, twists, and turns. • When the students finish rehearsing a choreographed dance that they learned in their class they usually present that dance to an audience.
