  2. Academic Regulations: Courseworks & Examinations • We recognise that exceptional, serious and acute problems can occur during your studies • It is your responsibility to inform us by submitting relevant form at the appropriate time.

  3. Academic Regulations: Associated Forms • Coursework Extension Request notes & form - submit before the due date. • Mitigating Circumstances notes & form - submit before coursework due date or no more than 5-working days after an examination • Suspension of Studies Request form – permitted to suspend studies once for up to 1 year • Submit forms to Susan for logging purposes

  4. Academic Regulations: Associated Forms • It is in your interests to submit the relevant forms • For example if the Assessment Board considers the evidence for mitigating circumstances to be valid then outcome may allow another attempt at the assessment without loss of an assessment opportunity.

  5. Academic Regulations: Misconduct • Make sure you are clear on your obligations and conduct as a student and the disciplinary procedures related to: • Academic misconduct such as plagiarism and collusion (Guidance) • Non-academic misconduct - For example you are expected to act courteous to students and staff at all times.

  6. Academic Regulations: Appeals(Academic/ Non-academic Misconduct) • If you disagreement with the outcome of an academic or non-academic misconduct hearing it is your right to appeal against the decision. • Appeal form and info on the appeals procedure can be downloaded from Academic Affairs web pages

  7. Academic Regulations: Appeals(Award and Progression) • Disagreement with academic judgement is not grounds for appeal, however, an appeal can be made against an Assessment Board award or progression decision on following grounds: • Material administration error • Factors which were not revealed by student prior to decision being made. • Forms and info on the appeals procedure can be downloaded from Academic Affairs web pages

Other Issues: Class Rep One Class Rep for each course What is a Class Rep’s role? – To gather views of classmates and convey this constructively in meetings and communications with staff (More info can be found on Student Involvement webpages) Interested in being your Class Rep? - e-mail Susan Middleton

Other Issues: RGU e-mail • We only use your RGU address for email correspondence – read it regularly both on and off-campus • RGU student email accounts are restricted to 10Mb – learn to use archive feature (recommended) • Unsure how to archive? Ask at IT&Moodle session or look at EC Tech Support or contact IT Helpdesk • Within Outlook you can re-direct your RGU emails’ to Yahoo, Hotmail etc (not recommended)
