  3. Seda’s Overview The Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) is an agency of the South African Department of Trade and Industry (the dti). Seda was established in December 2004, through the National Small Business Amendment Act, Act 29 of 2004. Seda’s mission is to develop, support and promote small enterprises throughout the country, ensuring their growth and sustainability in co–ordination and partnership with various role players, including global partners, who make international best practices available to local entrepreneurs.

  7. Seda’s Export Programme Overview The program is designed to help small enterprises in South Africa to acquire and apply practical skills in developing their export capabilities. To enhance the competitiveness of small enterprises Ensure equitable access to business support and opportunities Access and promotion to international markets

Export Development Assistance Assistance to potential exporters to improve identified areas of weakness with specific focus on: Product development Productivity improvement Quality development These areas are specifically targeted as it will make an impact on the export ability of the enterprise.

  9. Export Promotion Seda identify local and international promotional opportunities where potential exporters can test their newly acquired skills. The main focus is on exhibition opportunities at major trade shows within South Africa, as well as on trade missions organized by the dti abroad

  10. Trade Point Programme The Trade Point concept was launched by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in 1992. Global network with 100 offices in 70 countries International Trade support linkages and official partners: World Trade Organisation International Chamber of Commerce CBI - Netherlands

  11. The Trade Point Programme Trade Point also provide enterprises with trade-related information, market intelligence and links to other value-added WTPF, such as: Trade leads; Finding new suppliers; and Opportunity to advertise to promising markets; and Access to the latest market information

  12. Added Value of Trade Point and Africa The Trade Point program is formulated to increase opportunities for entrepreneurial success; provide an environment to access international trade opportunities and utilise the services that of the Trade Points to minimise trade risks. A ONE STOP SHOP

  16. dti Export Incentives • SSAS FUNDING • Generic Funding • Funding for non-profit business organisation in sectors of industry prioritised by dti (Industry Councils) • Project Funding • 80:20 reimbursement cost sharing grant whereby financial support is granted to Export Councils, joint action groups to develop particular sectors of the industry. Finding new export markets and promoting black SMMEs, woman, youth and people with disabilities

  17. dti Export Incentives • SSAS FUNDING • Project Funding for Emerging Exporters • Compensates costs in terms of activates aimed at the development of emerging exporters • OBJECTIVES • Develop industry sectors, new export markets, addressing factors inhibiting export growth. • BENEFITS • Travel and accommodation, transport of samples and marketing materials, exhibition costs • Max on one project R1.5 million

Exporters Club The exporters club is a initiative being established by the Seda and the BCCI in support of All exporters and potential exporters are invited to become member Meeting will be held monthly as a networking group and to share experiences, information and best practices More information will be made available in the next few weeks
