  1. Omri and Ahab Kings of Supreme Evil

  2. Background • Omri (c. 885 – 874 B.C.) and Ahab (c. 874 – 853 B.C.) were two bad kings who ruled Israel, c. (1 Kings 16:21 – 22:40; 2 Chron. 18:1-34; Mic. 6:16) • There is a repeated statement found in this account: “above all that were before him” (16:25,30,33) • What can we learn from these two kings? We learn how one can progress down the path of sin to the point of supreme evil (Rom. 1:24,26,28; 2 Tim. 2:16; 3:13)

  3. Lessons Learned • Be careful that you do not take a “light” view of sin (16:31) – Ezek. 8:17; 16:47; Ephesians 5:6; 1 Jn. 3:7-8 • Be careful who you marry (16:31-33; 21:25,26) – Deut. 7:3-4; Josh. 23:12; 1 Corinthians 15:33 • Be careful that you do not despise preachers of truth (18:17-18) – Acts 16:20; 17:6; 24:5; 2 Timothy 4:1-5 • Be careful that you do not have fellowship with worldliness (20:32-34) – Ephesians 5:11

  4. Lessons Learned • Be careful that you do not take what belongs to others (21:1-16) – Colossians 3:5 • Be careful that you do not bargain with (sell yourself to) the Devil (21:20,25) – Luke 22:3-5; Ephesians 4:27 • Be careful that you do not surround yourself with “lying spirits” while rejecting the truth (22:6,10-12,19-23) – 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12
