  8. Student Assignments • Please be thinking about who will primarily work with each of your students in need of one-on-one assistance. • I need your schedules and personnel assignments by the end of week one. I know they will change, but we need a foundation to start.

  9. Close Encounters with the Director • A lot of communication from the special ed office will occur via e-mail for the 2006-2007 school year • A working e-mail account that is checked at least every other day must be provided by August 17th. • The easiest way to get a message to me is Instant Messaging or e-mail rather than by the office phone. You can also use my cell especially in an emergency.

  10. Close Encounters of the Parental Kind • All teachers must contact their students’ parents or guardians within the first week of school

  11. Parent contacts continued… • Things to talk about when you make the call • Introduce yourself as the teacher for the new school year • Get the parents’ input for the child’s educational plan • Ask about the child’s likes and dislikes’ • Remember --many parents are the best experts on working with their child and a valuable member of the IEP and Educational team

  12. Finally… This power point is in place of the beginning of the year meeting we all love so much. I am not saying there will not be more to come, but maybe it will be delayed until later.
