Fiberglass-pressure adsorbers are resistant to several chemicals. FRP storage tank manufacturers use

FRP-series liquid phase adsorbers where corrosion is their sole concern. These units have 150 psi rating

that reveals that these can be used in high pressure applications. You must protect your FRP vessels

from vacuum conditions by using vacuum breaker in the line.

Manufacturers intend FRP series tanks in several sizes to handle a comprehensive range of liquid flows.

They craft the filament wound vessels with an internal bladder wrapped in fiberglass, which made them

ideal product for filtration. They use activated carbon, resins, or other filtering media to design the

filters. Food grade internals are standard along with vast variety of inlet/outlet sizes.

Installation of FRP adsorbers in the tanks

FRP adsorbers are transported empty along with the required carbon. Experts should connect the

adsorbers and test all fittings pressure to determine leak points before installing the carbon through

the top access hole.

A vacuum relief device is used to prevent damage in the tank. Once the carbon is loaded, clean water

should be released to the unit through the bottom collector. Experts recommend backwashing the

carbon to remove the carbon fines that may result in excessive pressure drop through the unit.


All liquid phase adsorbers work great when they are backwashed periodically. Backwashing removes

the fines and channel flow. Apart from this, extra maintenance can be done by testing the effluent

quality and checking the operating pressure of the system will help in achieving great results. Experts

always recommend monitoring the containment level into the last unit to safeguard the unit against



Over time adsorber’s carbon is saturated by dirt and contaminants. It is advisable to take off the unit

and replace the saturated carbon with fresh one. You can easily get a fresh carbon from the store of

supplier, who is already offering related products.

When preparing the unit for service, drain the water as much as possible from the vessel. Bring experts

to service your tank and those who can install the carbon to it.

FRP storage tank manufacturers would like you to note down a thing- wet activated carbon expels

oxygen from air. This causes a severe hazard to workers inside carbon vessels. It is necessary to put

confined space/low oxygen procedures prior entering to the vessels. All guidelines should be followed

by the team for best results.
