  1. Part 3: To accept the freedom and power God gives them to resist evil, injustice, and oppression; To receive and profess the Christian faith as contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments.

  2. 1. We need freedom and power from God to resist evil, injustice, and oppression.

  3. John 8:31-36 31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 33They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

  4. John 8:31-36 34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

  5. 2. We receive the faith. “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” - Romans 10:17

  6. Matthew 16:15-17 15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” 16Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”17Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.

  7. 3. We profess the faith. "Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.” - Matthew 10:32

  8. 4. This faith is contained in the Old and New Testaments. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” - 2 Timothy 3:16
