  3. … led by ISU faculty in discipline-based coursework. Randy Mitchell (Music) and the Ambassador Brass teach in an ISU strategic partner’s demonstration school. Professor Bill Mitchell (Biology) demonstrates water testing techniques on river water in Bangkok, Thailand.

  4. Experiencing (and learning) in China A group of K-12 teachers from around Indiana learn about the cultural importance of tea during a tea ceremony in Beijing while on an ISU-led Fulbright-Hayes group study tour of China. Professor John Conant (Economics) talks with Networks Scholars about China’s economic transformation at a street market in Shenyang, China.

  5. It is also about more global themes and concepts in courses taught here and around the world. ISU students and faculty learn about Thailand’s “sufficiency economy” principle from the owner of a solar banana drying operation in Phitsanulok. ISU students learn about business in Morocco at a meeting in the Economic Development Agency in Casablanca.

  10. Why Study Abroad? The top 5 reasons by ISU students 1. To learn about myself and become more independent2. To learn about a new culture and have a completely new experience3. To learn a new language4. To have fun meeting new people through traveling5. To build my resume and prepare myself for my career Erik Andersen graduated from ISU in May 2009 with a degree in Insurance and Risk Management.  While at ISU he completed a semester study abroad experience in Rome, Italy at the American University of Rome.  Erik stated "Study abroad provided me fuel for wanting to learn about new cultures, people, and continue to travel and discover new things," which lead him to enrolling in a management course that would allow him to travel to Taiwan the following spring.  He was able to visit various businesses in the financial services industry and local attractions.

The Lee Hamilton Center for Global Engagement will administer ISU’s Lee Hamilton Summer Internship at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars “This is a wonderful opportunity to have our students in Washington D.C. By being at the Wilson Center, many exciting opportunities will be opened up to these interns.” “This is a chance to work with world-class scholars and is a perfect example of experiential learning and community engagement. The students learn about public policy and economics while working alongside leading researchers on issues that affect the public.” - ISU Faculty Trenton Feasel, 2011 Hamilton Intern Darwin Brack, 2010 Hamilton Intern “I know how great an opportunity this is," Feasel said about his decision. "The Wilson Center is a world-renowned research institution. Not many people get an opportunity to intern there. Most interns are from the Ivy League." During his internship, Brack worked as a research assistant for three scholars. Part of the research focused on global environmental economics and the impact of reducing carbon footprints. As part of his research, Brack had access to the Library of Congress.

Addressing societal needs: promoting international economic & business cooperation in the Wabash Valley ISU delegation discusses economic cooperation in Morocco, 2007 ISU facilitates meeting between Liaoning Province and Liaoning University officials with Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman and IEDC officials, 2007 ISU-led delegation to Shenyang, PRC to discuss economic cooperation between Indiana and Liaoning Province, 2008
