  1. Personal Protection Equipment • Personal protective equipment is the special equipment that you wear to create a barrier between you and your germs. This barrier reduces the chance of touching, exposing yourself, and spreading germs. • Personal protective equipment(PPE Kits) helps prevent the spread of germs in the hospital. This can protect people and healthcare workers from infection. • All hospital staff, patients, and visitors must wear PPE Kits when they come in contact with blood or other body fluids.

  2. Types of personal protective equipment • The use of gloves protects hands from germs and helps reduce its spread. • Some have a transparent plastic part that covers the eyes. • A surgical mask helps stop the spread of germs from the nose and mouth. • A special face mask creates a tight seal around the nose and mouth. It may be needed so that you don't breathe in small germs like tuberculosis, bacteria, measles virus. • Eye protection includes covers, face, and glasses. They protect the mucous membranes in the eyes of blood and other body fluids. If these fluids come into contact with the eyes, the germs in the fluid can enter the body through the mucous membranes. • The clothing includes coveralls, aprons, head coverings, and shoes. • They are often used during surgery to protect you and the patient. • They are also used during surgery to protect you when working with body fluids. • Visitors wear gowns if they are visiting a person who is in isolation due to an easily spread disease. • You may need special personal protective equipment when handling some cancer drugs. • A gown with long sleeves and elastic cuffs may be necessary. This gown should prevent liquids from touching the skin.

  3. Choose the appropriate personal protective equipment You may need to use different types of personal protective equipment for different people. You will need personal protective equipment when you are caring for people in isolation, as well as other patients.
