  1. Yes, I could get rid of my Fear of speaking fluent English Language is the key of communication. It's the method through which we share our ideas, feelings, and thoughts with others. Some individuals even believe that language is what distinguishes us from animals and makes us human. English was originally the language of England, but through the historical efforts of the British Empire, it has become the primary or secondary language of many former British colonies such as the United States, Canada, Australia, and India. Currently, English is the primary language of not only countries actively touched by British imperialism, but also many business and cultural spheres dominated by those countries. It is the language of international banking and business. As such, it is a useful and even necessary language to know. But in India, it holds a completely different aspect. English is not only a medium to exchange thoughts and ideas but to be unique in crowd. So it’s natural and obvious for someone who doesn’t know English to feel inferior. And I was one of them. I was born and brought up in Muzaffarpur, a sub-urban city of Bihar. I completed my high school from there. The vernacular languages of the region are Maithili and Bajjika. They are the little bit altered form of Hindi in speaking; the writing part is similar to Hindi. Because of my surroundings of non-English speakers, I never realized the importance of English. Then for higher studies, I moved to New Delhi a metropolitan city and capital of India. I started pursuing a Tourism Management degree from Jamia University. As tourism is a hospitality-based sector, I soon realized the importance of communication skills, especially of the English language. English is the global language that is explicable to the majority of the world’s population. A few incidents which make me more concerned about my command over the English language are when many times professor asked questions to students in class and even I knew the answer but I don’t speak. The best students of class had the same

  2. reply as mine, sometimes I had a better response than the top answers but just because I don’t know how to structure my thoughts into an English sentence I feel anxious and keep my mouth shut. Then in my last summer vacation, I decided to do something about it. I realized that by simply watching TV series and Hollywood movies was not going to help me to learn English. So I started thinking about coaching classes and visited numbers of classes and after comparing them all I joined the best one which was Englishmate. I attended all the sessions and the way of teaching really helped me. The teaching combined group discussion, debates, presentations, and audio-visual learning. The group discussion and debate sessions really helped me in regaining my lost confidence. As one of my friends always used to say “language is not taught, it’s caught”. It doesn’t mean that language can’t be taught it simply means that you can learn a language more effectively and efficiently by carefully listening or observing good speakers and writers. For that English Mate provided me the best trainers who have profound knowledge in their field of expertise and make me ponder. As far as I’ve learned I realized that English is the most beautiful language to express your feelings. For every action, feeling, thought and an idea there is a particular word. For example, you can simply say beautiful in so my different ways like appealing, charming, elegant, good-looking, and gorgeous and many more. They all mean the same but have their own usage to intensify the emotions and feelings according to the need. How English can transform your life? For this question the perfect example I consider is me. Now I am a more confident and easy-going person than ever before. English is not just a language it’s a tool to explore the unexplored. This article has been written by Zertab Ahmed Khan a student at Englishmate, a Hindustan Times venture. Englishmate helps learners to improve their communication skills by providing Cambridge certified English speaking courses.
