  6. Common Terms “Crop” an Image Crop Icon • Crop means to remove the outer parts of an image to improve framing, accentuate subject matter, or change aspect ratio. Example 

  7. Common Terms “Red-Eye” Tool Crop Icon • The Red-Eye Tool is for pictures where people have red eyes. Using the tool will eliminate the “red-eye” and give the color a more natural appearance. Example

  8. Common Terms “Smudge” Tool Crop Icon • The Smudge Tool is used to smudge colors on the active layer. Example

  9. Common Terms “Pen” Tool Crop Icon • The Pen Tool is used to place anchor points to define a path. That way, you are able to select a specific portion of image. Example

  11. Common Terms “Brightness/Contrast” Crop Icon • Brightness indicates the offset of the level of black. Contrast applies a scale factor (gain) that affects the luminance (intensity). Example

  12. Common Terms “Hue/Saturation” Crop Icon • Hue describes a dimension of color we readily experience when we look at color. Saturation is the dominance of hue in the color. Example

  13. Common Terms “Levels” Crop Icon • The levels tool in Photoshop can move and stretch the brightness levels of an image histogram. It is made up of complete black, complete white, and midtones. Example
