  2. Rule of Thirds This photo shows the rule of thirds by having the subject, (the chess pieces,) off to one side of the shot, with blank space on the opposite side.

  3. Balance This photo shows balance by having an equal amount of chess pieces adjacent to each other. (Across the board.)

  4. Lines This photo shows lines by having the Stratigo pieces lined up in a row, creating a long line across the top, and a less obvious one across the front.

  5. Simplicity This photo shows simplicity by having a blank background behind a simple subject.

  6. Framing This photo shows framing by using white “miss” pieces from Battleship to frame one of the game’s ship pieces.

  7. Lighting This photo shows lighting by having a lamp shining on a chess board, making the pieces cast a shadow on the white background.

  8. Color This photo shows color by using a brightly colored Sorry board and its pieces as the subject.

  9. Black and White This photo shows black and white by taking a simple picture of some Monopoly pieces and adding a black and white filter.

  10. Editing Techniques This photo shows editing techniques by taking a picture of a Candy Land board and making everything except the area around a game piece black and white.

  11. Extreme Close-Up This photo shows an extreme close-up by focusing on the top of a chess piece, showing the texture of the wood.
