  1. Noordzee-wind Offshore Windpark Egmond aan Zee First analysis OWEZ-data July 2005 – December 2009 Geert Groen, KNMI Source doc and data: http://www.noordzeewind.nl/

  2. Presentation • Introduction context and OWEZ-park • Configuration meteomast • Data layout and reports OWEZ • Analysis KNMI: mean wind and gust • Profile relations: theory and practice • Comparison with Windkaart Nederland op 100 meter hoogte • Comparison European Wuindatlas from Risø National Laboratory • First conclusions and TODO

  3. Noordzee- beleidsnota 2009-2015

  4. Introduction

  5. Meteo-mast

  6. Data

  7. Wake-effect

  8. Analysis Noordzee-windper half year Power law 0,12

  9. My analysis per month (toolpack-MS-Excel)

  10. Number of observations

  11. Mean windspeed 21, 70 and 116 m

  12. Max wind 18 Jan 2007 14UTC

  13. Max gust per month (m/s)

  14. Vertical relation mean windspeedV116/V21 and V70/V21

  15. Logaritmic profile? Vh/Vz=ln(h/zo)/ln(z/zo) with zo=2mm

  16. Gust profile

  17. Both FF and FxFx-relations Benschop??

  18. Comparison Windkaart 100 meter

  19. Comparison European Windatlas

  20. H. Benschop, Windsnelheidsmetingen op zeestations en kuststations: herleiding waarden windsnelheid naar 10-meter niveau. KNMI Technisch rapport TR-188, 1996. Benschop, 1996 Power law here 0,13, in OWEZ 0,12 Vh/Vz=ln(h/zo)/ln(z/zo) with zo=2mm (also applied on land(coast)stations !!) OWEZ: V70= 1,11(V21) and V116= 1,16(V21), in LN-theory 1,13 and 1,180 OWEZ: G70= 1,12(G21) and G116= 1,19(G21) Best fit in ln-profile with z0= 0.5 mm on OWEZ-data, than AUK 1,23 and K13 1,20?

  21. Best fit (LN- and power) LN-profile: Vh/Vz=ln(h/zo)/ln(z/zo) with zo=2mm Power-profile: Vh/Vz= (h/z)^x Suggestion: LN-profile with zo=0.5 mm? Difference of 2% in Vmean at 70m maximum 18 Jan 2007, 23,2 m/s, V10 now (LN, zo 2 mm) 20,5 And could be 20,1 m/s (LN, zo 0.5 mm). Urgence?

  22. Primary conclusions • OWEZ data valuable for climatology • Monthly sets of ten minute data • Not fully analysed • Vmean at 21m is 90% V70 and 86 % V116 • LN-profile deviates from theory -2 to -3 % • Gmax at 21m is 89% G70 and 84% G70 • LN-profile (surface roughness) revisited • Heigth correction revisited • Comparison windkaart and windatlas reasonable values • TODO: Turbulence intensity, heigth correction, ….etc….etc…etc……
