  3. Purpose of the PDTs Collaborative Planning Coordination of Professional Development Opportunities Enhance Teacher Quality Improve Student Achievement

  4. Composition of the PDTs • Reading Leader • Assistant Principal/APC Secondary Schools • Designated Union Building Steward • Possible Instructional Personnel - Language Arts/Reading Leader/Coach - Mathematics Leader/Coach -Grade Level Chair (applicable to Elem.) -Department Chair for Core Subjects

Role & Responsibilities of the PDT Pair new teacher with “transition teacher” Collaborate with staff to develop PDP that reflects student data and teacher needs Develop and submit PDP Participate in Action Research Training & Conduct action research Agree to participate as a team member through 2005-06 school year Announce training opportunities and registration procedures

  6. Incentives • Up to $2250 stipend per team - $100 stipend for attending one-day Action Research training - $150 stipend upon completion of action research project • Up to 30 Master Plan Points may be earned - 6 Master Plan Points for participating on PDT - 6 Master Plan Points for attending the in-service training - Up to 18 Master Plan Points for conducting the action research (log will be provided) and must be submitted for credit to be awarded

Professional Development Framework Experienced Teachers Student Service Personnel Principals & AP’s New Teacher Institute Support Teams Family Involvement Using Data Teaching and Learning Accomplished Teaching Peer Coaching, Peer Study Groups learning Communities Classroom Walk-through Continuous Improvement Peer Coaching and Collaborative Planning Electives Professional Partners Peer Coaching and Collaborative Planning Classroom Walk-through Continuous Improvement District and Zone Staff Progress Monitoring Classroom Walk-through Data Analysis Continuous Improvement District Staff Teaching and Learning Family Involvement Using Data Instructional Connections NEST Each focus area will be tied to a menu of professional development offerings, providing enhanced opportunities for choice!

Timeline December 10, 2004 Submission deadline for Professional Development Team lists January 3, 2005 Zone Professional Development website and bulletin board launched January 2005 Meetings with Region Center staff and all Zone teams January 12, 2005 Submission deadline for 2004-2005 School Professional Development Plans January 18, 2005 Registration for Course Offerings Begins February 2005 Training for Professional Development Teams on Action Research Projects June 2005Action Research Showcase: Lessons Learned
