  6. Religion and Morality. Do we as humans in the 21st century need religion in order to be ethical or moral beings? Mini Fishbowl Discussion (same format as last class) Choose a partner. Choose who is A and who is B. Group up with 1-2 other pairs, so you are a group of 3ish pairs, 6ish people. Take turns: All the As have a 5 minute discussion on the question. Bs observe. Then, all the Bs, have a discussion on the question. As observe. NEW STEP: Come together as a full class and talk about what the As/Bs notice about the discussion itself (not the topic, but how the discussion went)

Religion and Societies: Time = Past • Example Quest • Find an example of a situation (a conflict, an era, a movement) that you think was influenced by religion (any religion) or conflicts between religion(s). • Limiters: • Time: it must be at least 50 years ago. • Place: any place • What steps did you take to find that situation (i.e. google search terms, acting on previous knowledge, etc)? • How did you determine that religion was involved in that situation? • Was it obvious that religion was involved at the time? • Does religion seem like a proximate cause or an ultimate cause in this situation?

  8. Prepping for Field Trip | Field Notes This will be a richopportunity for you to add to your jackdaw box, and our main unit question: What is a religion? For the trip, you will be an active observer, operating with the motto: Everything is Interesting (from Keri Smith). Prepare 3 research questions that you could explore in the spaces and with the 5 people we will be meeting. These questions should help you add complexity and depth to your jackdaw project and to your understanding/exploration of the unit questions.

  9. Prepping for Field Trip | Logistics Logistics Bring home letter and return signed permission slip to your teacher before the field trip. Ensure you bring a bagged lunch with minimal garbage that day (boarders lunches will be provided, students on hot lunch will need to bring your own lunch that day). Proper uniform (#1s optional).
