  2. The Protestant Reformation Vocabulary: p. 50: • Indulgence—forgiveness for a sin purchased from the Catholic Church • Pardon—forgiveness for a sin • Papal—pertaining to the pope • Blasphemy—offending or speaking about God in an unholy way • Repentance—express true regret for a sin

If you were an official in the church, how would you have defended your actions? • Luther did not intend to create a new branch of Christianity, but soon his followers began establish churches of their own following his ideals. What has been the result of this division within Christianity? Where have we seen it before? Do you think this divide has been a good thing or a bad thing? • What is your opinion of the 95 Theses?
