  2. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome • Carpal Tunnel is pressure on the median nerve causing numbness and tingling in the fingers and hand.The usual cause of Carpal tunnel is typing on the computer or sewing.

  3. Carpal Tunnel • The carpal tunnel is located above the carpal bones and is covered by the transverse carpal ligament.

  4. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome • Pressure of themedian nerveunderneath the transverse carpalligament.

  5. Surgery • To cure carpal tunnel syndrome, a doctor will surgically cut the transverse carpal ligament to relieve the pressure caused by the median nerve. This is an out patient procedure.

  7. Treatments • Although surgery is a quick and sure fire cure, it is not the only method. Carpal tunnel can be treated with various medications such as Naproxen. With a physical therapist, you can also do various stretches. In some cases, people have claimed that acupuncture has been an effective method of treating their carpal tunnel.

  8. Recovery The carpal tunnel surgery is an out patient procedure. Patients will remain in the hospital for a few hours following their surgery for observations. Afterwards, they will wear a split and wrap for a few weeks with a prescription for a pain killer/anti inflammatory.
