EMODnet Chemistry Data Collection and Metadata Compilation in Sea Regions: Current Status

This partner contribution from the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries in Split, Croatia provides a general overview of the spatial distribution and total number of stations per parameter group per matrix. The data quality control performed by the data center is also discussed. Difficulties encountered include finding appropriate parameters for hazardous substances in sediment and biota, dealing with detection limits, and ensuring compatibility with EEA and transitional monitoring projects. The proposal suggests that EMODnet Chemistry can collect and harmonize missing parameters from partners and submit them to the BODC parameters list, while also aiming for compatibility with EIONET data dictionary.

  1. EMODnet Chemistry WP1: Data collection and metadata compilation in sea regions: current status Partner contribution: Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, Split, Croatia Annual Meeting, June 15-16 2015, Istanbul, Turkey

  2. Current status General overview of the partner contribution: Spatial distribution: Annual Meeting, June 15-16 2015, Istanbul, Turkey

  3. Current status Total number of stations per parameter group per matrix: Annual Meeting, June 15-16 2015, Istanbul, Turkey

  4. Data quality control performed by the data center: Annual Meeting, June 15-16 2015, Istanbul, Turkey

  5. Difficulties encountered: * Finding apropriate Parameters for Hazardous substances in sediment and biota * ½ of detection (quantification) limit Compatibility with EEA ** Transitional period beetwin old monitoring projects and new MSFD monitoring Annual Meeting, June 15-16 2015, Istanbul, Turkey

  6. Proposal: EMODnet chemistry can collect all missing parameters from partners, harmonize them, and then submit it to BODC parameters list. Othervise there be a many "variations" of the same parameter. Also EMODnet should be compatibile with EIONET data dictionary (and try to influence into it). Annual Meeting, June 15-16 2015, Istanbul, Turkey

  7. Planning for the last year Total number of stations per parameter group per matrix: Annual Meeting, June 15-16 2015, Istanbul, Turkey
