  3. Stories of Change 02

  4. Radiance was overwhelmed and stressed out by her day-to-day life to the point that she couldn’t cope. She quit school. Eventually she was diagnosed as bipolar. With a diagnosis came help. And with help from tutors, courtesy of United Way-supported programs, she’s living up to her name, is on track to finish her GED this year, and plans to further her education after that.

  5. Jackie and Jerry were drowning in debt. They had prescriptions, but they couldn’t afford them. They received notices, but they couldn’t pay them. Collectors were calling, until their phone was shut off. They needed help – and they got it from a money management program through a United Way-supported organization. Credit cards were paid off, bills were reduced, the checkbook was balanced and there was even a little left in the bank.

  6. Between a quarrelsome relationship with her mother and a series of unfortunate events, Audrey ended up homeless at 16. She took comfort in a verbally abusive relationship. The guy broke into people’s houses, and she started doing it with him. When they got caught, Audrey knew she wanted to change. With counseling through a United Way-supported program, Audrey has moved on from her past. She completed high school in two years and is now a college student.
