  2. Issues addressed • Expiration of SAFETEA-LU • IRR National Inventory • IRR Bridge Program • Appointment of Deputy Secretary • Transit and Safety Programs • FHWA and NHTSA Safety Programs

  3. Expiration of SAFETEA-LU • Scheduled to expire September 30 • Extension under development • 6 mos. to 18 mos. • Likely continue with FY09 program levels • Administration will be developing a proposal during the extension.

  4. IRR National Inventory • Scope of work • To develop policy and standards for the inventory, and to address trust responsibilities, stewardship needs, and the processes used for the inventory. • QA/QC of critical data fields • Update of coding guide • Benchmark to other inventories • Cost tables • Identification of input parameters for other modes. (no generation of funding). • Full undertaking FY10-FY11 • Recommendations implemented in FY10, 11, 12 inventory calculations.

  5. IRR Bridge Program • No update available until the administration develops its reauthorization proposal. • No IRR Bridge program in the current Rep. Oberstar bill.

  6. Appointment of Deputy Secretary • This administration is currently filling the political appointees. We have made the FHWA Administrator’s and the DOT Secretary’s offices aware of this language in the SAFETEA-LU. • Will make the IRRPCC aware of any further decisions.

  7. Transit Program • FTA must be involved in the conversion of Tribal Transit Grant Programs into a formula program. We will facilitate a future discussion with FTA if requested.

  8. FHWA and NHTSA Safety Programs • Tribal Safety Summits ongoing • Tribal Safety Plans developed. • Dedicated Safety Track at NTTC. • A coordinated meeting with FHWA and BIA Safety Officials is being scheduled for this Fall.
