  1. Supplementary Figure 3 A B Dry weight of grain in a panicle (g/panicle) Yields of O3fumigated rice cultivar Koshihikari. Yield is calculated as dry weight of hulled grains per one panicle. A) Rice plants were grown in the green house at NIES as described in Materials and Methods. At a flowering stage, the rice plants were transiently exposed to 200 ppb O3 for 8 h in GCs. O3-exposed rice plants were transferred to the green house and grown until harvesting. B) Rice plants were grown in Open-Top Chambers (OTCs) at Akagi Test Center. Plants were fumigated with the ambient O3 for their whole lifetime. Control-OTCs at Akagi were equipped with charcoal filters where ambient O3 is filtered, whereas ambient O3-OTCs were not equipped with the filters.
