Fly Your Ideas: a biennial global competition Airbus Fly Your Ideas is a biennial global competition, organised in partnership with UNESCO, which challenges students to innovate for the future of sustainable aviation. At Airbus, we’re constantly looking for new, better ways to fly and that’s what Fly Your Ideas is all about.

  8. Key messages Now in its 5th edition, Fly Your Ideas 2017 was launched in June this year. Round 1 runs from 7 September to 25 November 2016 and we’d like as many teams as possible from your region to enter. • The competition is a unique opportunity for students around the world to put their classroom knowledge to the test against real industry challenges. • We’re encouraging teams to be as diverse as possible, as we know that diversity is a driver of innovation and performance and want to inspire students from all profiles and backgrounds about our exciting industry.

Business Models Fly Your Ideas 2017: 5 industry challenges • Flight Operations • Manufacturing • Passenger Experience • Design Engineering What else could be done with aircraft other than transportation? How can big data be used to improve efficiency of flight operations? How can new processes or layouts ease passenger boarding and disembarking, whilst increasing capacity for luggage? How can artificial intelligence support aircraft design and/or manufacturing? How can manufacturing be disruptively improved to reduce waste and ensure the sustainability of resources?

Making Fly Your Ideas a success in your region • Targeted media relations adapted to local market • Leverage innovation / employability skills / entrepreneurship / university-business relations angles according to local priorities • Leverage success stories / testimonials from past participants, finalists, mentors, academic mentors from your region • Leverage UNESCO relationship for local third party quote / event • Targeted education outreach • Outreach to your local universities where you have existing contacts (in coordination with Employment Marketing where present) • Outreach to relevant students associations and networks • Share posts and news via local SM channels (if any) and direct traffic to Fly Your Ideas web and Facebook page
